Anything Could Happen

I just want to reiterate how much Sadie and I love our new theme song for this coming year.  I must say that Ellie Goulding says it the best when she sings that “anything could happen.”  The first time I heard this song was actually on the x-factor when Fifth Harmony sang it.  It was an incredibly delightful performance.  You can’t help but smile when you see the words put into action.  Check it out here.

Sadie and I heard it  on our way over to our New Year’s festivities and I took it as a sign.  Maybe this year there are going to be some major changes in our lives.  I’m not exactly sure what is in store for the both of us but I can only hope that it involves positivity and fearlessness.  We are two young women who need to live life as if its our last day.  That means we need to grab hold of life’s moments and create our own adventures.  We need to open our eyes to the life that surrounds us and take risks when we see possible opportunities that are reaching toward us.

One of my goals for this year is to see the world and all it has to offer.  So far this year, I already have a trip to Boston and San Francisco planned.  Just yesterday, I was told that I could possibly be taken on a trip to Paris for the opening of a new restaurant.  That’s not yet a definite, but I will keep you updated.  Start enjoying 2013 everyone!  The year will go by way too fast!

Sexy Sangria

Ingredients
1 quart burgundy wine
1/2 -3/4 quart Sprite/7-Up (diet works just as well)
6 oz. orange juice
3 shots of Brandy
1 1/2 shots of Triple Sec
1/2 lemon squeezed
Lots of cut up fruit (apples, oranges, pear, etc)
Lots of Ice

Directions
Mix liquids together in a large pitcher. Place cut up fruit into the pitcher. Let fruit soak for at least an hour before serving. Enjoy! The drunken fruit is a delicious reward for drinking the pitcher! Check out this awesome glass that my friend, Karla, brought me. It was inspired for my love of the movie Magic Mike. Yes, there is not much plot in this film, but there is sure a lot of crazy, sexy, cool dancing that you don’t want to miss. Karla is also the source of this delicious recipe. Pair Magic Mike with Sexy Sangria and you have one scintillating night ahead of you!

Santa’s Snickerdoodles

When I was a child, I always left Snickerdoodles out for Santa.  They are festive and easy to make.  My dad used to let me roll the balls of dough into different colored sugars to make them special.  Then my dad would take my creation and bake them in the oven to make the perfect cookie for Santa.  It is one of my best Christmas memories.  The recipe is an adaptation from Betty Crocker.

Ingredients
1  c butter, 1 1/2 c sugar, 2 eggs, 2 3/4 c flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp cream of tartar, 1/4 tsp salt

Directions
Heat oven to 400.  Mix sugar, butter, and eggs in a large bowl.  Stir in flour, creamof tartar, baking soda and salt.  Shape dough into 1 inch balls and then roll the balls in colored sugar.
