Last Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Side to Side by Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj. This is a fun song for the workout mix. Ariana Grande lyrics continue to baffle me. She loves to play an innocent, giggly girl in the media, and her songs are 100% about sex. It’s weird.
  2. Perfect Illusion by Lady Gaga. I was really skeptical about this song because Lady Gaga’s style has changed a lot in the last couple years. It took a couple listens, but I really like this one. It just blows my mind that she went from super avant guard fashion to tee shirts and cut-off jean shorts.
  3. Starving by Hailee Steinfeld & Grey feat. Zedd. I’m on the fence about Hailee Steinfeld. I like some of her songs, but not all of them, and I found her character in Pitch Perfect 2 really annoying. So I’m taking her on a song by song basis. This one is a winner in my book, but at the same time it’s not fast enough for the gym but not a slow song either. Probably best for car rides.
  4. Starboy by The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk. I really like The Weeknd, and if you saw him on SNL you’ll notice that he ditched the cartoony hair style. He looks like a normal civilian now! This song is a perfect mix of Daft Punk and The Weeknd’s styles.
  5. Mack The Knife by Bobby Darin. I had a serious need for Bobby Darin the other day. Is that normal? I might have downloaded a couple of his other songs as well. He just makes me so happy, I can’t explain it.

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Work by Rihanna feat. Drake. This song is everywhere and I finally caved. I felt like I needed to add it to my workout playlist.
  2. Never Forget You by Zara Larsson and MNEK. I was listening to the sample of this song on iTunes over and over and I finally committed to it. It’s also great for the workout playlist. I’m surprised I haven’t heard it in spin class yet.
  3. 2am by Adrian Marcel feat. Sage the Gemini. I heard this song on a YouTube dance video. The choreography is so good, and it’s hard to stop listening to the song.
  4. Trini Dem Girls by Nicki Minaj feat. Lunchmoney Lewis. Another one I saw on a choreography video. So good. This is a combination of a typical Nicki song combined with one of those girls of world type songs where they call out several nationalities.
  5. Drop That Kitty by Ty Dolla $ign feat. Charli XCX and Tinashe. This is another great workout song. Definitely inappropriate so it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s a fun, high energy song. (the video is definitely weird)

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Break a Sweat by Becky G. This is definitely for the workout mix. There’s obviously a double meaning, but it totally works.
  2. Monster by Kanye West feat. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver. I needed this song after I saw Adele rap Nicki’s part on her episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. Nicki’s rap is my favorite part of the song, but it’s pretty good all around.
  3. Good to Be Alive by Andy Grammar. I think I heard this song in a class at the gym and I decided I needed it. It’s very positive and a good change of pace from the rap and EDM on my workout mix.
  4. Bad by David Guetta and Showtek feat. Vassy. I’m pretty sure David Guetta can do no wrong. This song is pretty epic.
  5. All I Ask by Adele. This is again a result of watching Carpool Karaoke with James Corden and Adele. It’s fantastic.
