Well over the past weekend, the bakery opened up for the season. I must say that it was great to be back at work. I love seeing the regulars come in and seeing them take a gander at the new items that we have to offer. We always have a few new cheeses every season and some new giftware as well. This season we are also offering dog treats which seem to be a big hit. Here’s to the start of a new season! I will be celebrating with mojitos tonight with my friends. I’m sure I will have some new recipes to share after I cook up this delicious dinner for them. In the meantime, here’s some pics but beware they may make you hungry. Feel free to visit me at the Bread and Cheese Cupboard in Stone Harbor, NJ this summer to get any of the products you see in these pics. You can even like us on Facebook!

Apple Fritter Fantasy at the Amish Market
On Thursday, I went to the Amish Market in Vineland for the last time until the fall. With my work schedule, I will no longer be able to make the market hours in the summer. I had an afternoon filled with my most wonderful treats. As they say in the movie, For Richer or Poorer, with Tim Allen, “Good food, good meat, good God, let’s eat.” I sat at the lunch counter with my mom upon arrival and ordered the Rachel. They have the best roast turkey layered onto a slice of rye, which they then top with their homemade coleslaw and drizzle with thousand island dressing before placing another slice of rye bread. Then of course they grill it to perfection.
We then shopped around the market. They have many different areas of them market: cheese case, deli case, pickled barrels, butcher, specialty salad and soup bar, bakery, nut and candy counter, BBQ station, and produce section. You can most certainly find anything you want there to satisfy your cravings. Here’s what I chose to end the day with…a deliciously gooey on the inside, yet crunchy on the outside and still warm apple fritter.
Favorite Things
I work out everyday so sometimes I get more excited about workout clothes shopping then regular clothes shopping. Nothing motivates me to workout like some cute gear. Some of my latest (tested and approved) faves:
Super comfortable, great fabric, and don’t have to adjust them at all while I’m working out, I love that. I have them in black, and it’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow, guess what she’s getting… They’re from Athleta.
Softest Shirt Ever! It’s Under Amour‘s Charged Cotton.
This Sports Bra is for serious workouts. It’s from Under Armour too!
I love a fun pattern, and Nike has some great variations on this classic bra.
Super Comfy, great fabric, great basic! Nike knows what’s up.
Aren’t these cute? I just bought them, I’m a sucker for cute New Balance kicks!
I stick to basics for working out because I hate having stuff that has 7 different trendy straps pulling everywhere, or colors that require coordination. And I love me some Target workout gear, but to be perfectly honest, I workout so often that I’m coming to the realization that I need to wear real workout clothes for the occasion. Whether I like it or not, I’ve realized a $50 pair of spandex capris have a much longer life cycle than the $15 ones at Target. And I still love all my gear left over from high school and college sports, but I’ve learned that my weight room shirt from 8 years ago will not smell like anything other than 8 years of sweat no matter how many times I wash it (which is sad because it’s got the whole worn-in retro thing going on now). Plus who doesn’t love another reason to shop!
