Five Things

That drive me crazy about commuting to work.

1. Escalator blocking. This is a universal city thing, if you’re not walking up or down the escalator, stay as close to the right side as possible. I got places to be, and frankly running up the escalator gets my blood pumping and ready for work.

2. People jockeying for position between stops. I know you need to get off soon and you’re worried about making it through the doors before they close. But when you stand up while the train is moving and force everyone around you to accommodate your movement, everyone involved will go flying when the train jerks. As long as you are quick and polite but firm when the train stops, you’ll make it out the door and on your way.

3. Backpacks. You don’t realize it, but your backpack is in everyone’s way. When you turn around you are basically hitting everyone in a two foot radius from you.

4. Tourists traveling during rush hour. I realize that my metro stop is the White House metro stop, but you’re playing with fire if you get in my way on the way to work.

5. People. In my way. All the time. Bah Humbug.

Other than that life is sunshine and rainbows.

What I’m Watching

The fall is always a great season for TV, and here are a few shows I’ve gotten hooked on this year!

The New Atlanta: If there is a new show on Bravo, I watch it. I have been a little selective with Housewives because I think those have become pretty boring and formulaic (let’s have a knock down, drag out fight every week because you looked at me funny!). But, anyway, The New Atlanta got me hooked, surprise, surprise. It’s very similar to Shahs of Sunset and Most Eligible Dallas, because it’s a similar format to Housewives, but with 20 and 30 somethings of both genders. They sort of know each other, and there’s a crazy one, a driven one, a hot one, a voice of reason, all the necessary characters. Right now it’s on Tuesdays at 10pm (let’s be honest, I usually just watch last week’s episode that re-runs earlier in the night cause 10pm is my bedtime).NewAtlanta

Super Fun Night: This is one that Carrie turned me onto! I was a little skeptical at first because the commercials weren’t very promising, but it’s actually pretty cute and funny. I think the Rebel Wilson (from Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect), puts on kind of a forced American accent, but she’s a funny gal. There’s a cute boy and all the typical rom-com, sit-com type plots, it’s basically right up my alley. Watch for it on Wednesdays on ABC.Super Fun Night

Sean Saves the World: The return of Jack from Will and Grace! I like Sean Hayes, and even though I think he’s a little type cast these days, he’s pretty hilarious. He’s definitely less flamboyant and crazy in this show, but really funny. I think the writing is smart and funny. It’s supposed to be contributing to the return of Must See TV on Thursday nights on NBC. While I like this one, I’m a little luke warm on the other shows in the lineup, I try to catch this one!sean-saves-world

And the other not so new shows I’m watching are of course: Hart of Dixie, The Mindy Project, and I’m getting ready for new episodes of Girl Code on MTV! Also a new season of Top Chef just started, and I usually wait a few weeks so there are fewer contestants, and that way it’s not as lengthy of an emotional roller coaster for me!

I’m obviously having a really busy fall…

How are you passing your weeknights?

Fall Must Haves

Every season there seem to be a few new trends or must have items that I notice, then proceed to plot and scheme to find the best version for me. Here are some of the things I’ve been thinking about lately, but haven’t had the chance to get quite yet:

Coated Jeans

Coated

I just got rid of my old pair of black jeans because they got pretty faded and never quite fit the way I wanted. Instead of replacing them with black denim, I think coated denim could be an even cooler option! I’ve seen them in a range of prices and I’m hoping I’ll like the ones from Banana and Ann Taylor because they’re more in my range. I’ve been unsure of my size lately though, so despite all the 40% sales, I need to get to the mall and try them on before I pull the trigger.

Ankle Boots

booties

Always. I need a black and maybe brown pair that have a heel that’s not too thin and not too thick, not too high but not too low. Something I can wear with my long dress pants to work so the hems aren’t dragging when I walk. Durable, comfortable, but cute shoes for work are a must have! I haven’t found my Goldielocks perfect pair, but I’m looking…

Chambray ShirtsChambray

I had one that I loved and wore constantly, but it doesn’t fit the way it used to, so I need a new one! I know these have been in style consistently for a couple years now, but it seems like every single store has a version in three washes this season. I need.

Biker Chicleatherdress

Leather/pleather along with Moto style jackets seem to be THE THING right now. But wait a second, I’ve been rocking a sweet leather jacket for years. And almost every coat I buy has an off center zipper which I guess is “moto.” So basically what I”m saying is that someone has probably been spying on me, and decided that I am too cool for school. Even though this trend is not a new concept for me, I am thrilled that this style is so readily available, and I’m taking full advantage!

What do you have your eye on this fall?
