A Hoot and a Half

I need to preface this post by saying I’m a bad Chi Omega sister, I already know.

I made somewhat of a dramatic confession to a few of my best friends/ sorority sisters a couple months ago.

Brace yourself.

I’m not a fan of owls.

Owls are a big symbol for Chi Omega, and with their recent popularity in fashion/design, anything with an owl on it is a go-to gift for Chi Omega sisters. After I broke this news to Karla and Carrie, it has become somewhat of a contentious issue. I think they’re moving through all the stages of grief.

My feelings aside, Carrie is a good Chi Omega, and when I visited her last week, I collected some evidence. Please note, this is just the tip of the iceberg in her house.

Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Normally I ignore that this holiday exists, but this year I get the chance to embrace it. Even if you don’t have a valentine this year, there is reason to celebrate. Valentine’s Day should be about spoiling yourself and celebrating all the people that love who you are. Tonight, I have a date with my friend Kelly to watch Vampire Diaries with a glass of champagne and some sweet delectable treats to snack on. I’d say I’m going to have a Happy Valentine’s Day even though I can’t be with my valentine 😉

To my Chi Omega sisters, I found the cute owl tea towels at TJ Maxx. As you all know, I just couldn’t resist.

Hooty Who is coming to tea?

To all my Chi Omega sisters, check out this new teapot I found at Pier 1 Imports today. It was a spectacular find to add to my collection. I have a collection of fun teapots, cookie jars and other retro finds above my kitchen cabinets as decoration. I have so much kitchen gear that I am currently building an oversized pantry space in order to keep everything organized. I am converting a small closed in porch area into my dream kitchen storage area. I can’t wait for this project to be completed! Here’s just a taste of what I have stored above my cabinets. And there is a whole lot more where that came from…

I got the gingerbread man cookie jar from my mom this Christmas. He is so cute! The cookie jar on the right was my nana’s. I also collect retro Pyrex refrigerator dishes as well.
I love to collect eye-catching pitchers as well as Pyrex mixing bowl sets. I have seen this particular pattern on Rachel Ray’s show.
Anything to do with baking is a collector’s item for me as well. I have an old fashioned cake sifter and a cake plate. I got the cake cookie jar on the right from my mom for my birthday last year. What kind of collections do you have?
