Spring Trend Alert: Tie Waist Pants

This trend is on the more fashion forward end of the spectrum this season. Fair warning- the tie waist pant requires a tucked in shirt and it will bring attention to your waist. If drawing attention to your waist is not your favorite look, this might not be for you. That being said, I think it’s worth at least a lap around the fitting room, because you never know if something will be flattering until you try it on. I think almost all of the versions of this look great with a trendy loafer.

Here are a few that I’ve seen so far:

From Loft (they have a few different colors)

From JCrew

From Gap

From Anthropologie

From Boden

So do you think Tie Waist Pants are for you?

Spring Trend Alert: Doubled Breasted Blazers

This trend is carrying over from the last couple seasons. When I started seeing more double breasted blazers in the stores, my first reaction was: no thank you. But like many trends, if it sticks around long enough, I start considering it. The nice thing is that a double breasted blazer is a good statement piece to add to a really simple outfit for a professional but stylish result. In fact, it can take a casual Friday outfit of slim leg pants and a simple blouse to client meetings on a Tuesday.

I think the key to making it work is finding one that fits well and manage proportions with a slim leg pant or pencil skirt. They’re great if you want to make your shoulders look a little broader.

Here are some of the versions I’ve seen out there:

From JCrew– it also comes in a couple other colors

From Loft

From Banana Republic

From White House Black Market

Another from JCrew
