Anything Could Happen

I just want to reiterate how much Sadie and I love our new theme song for this coming year.  I must say that Ellie Goulding says it the best when she sings that “anything could happen.”  The first time I heard this song was actually on the x-factor when Fifth Harmony sang it.  It was an incredibly delightful performance.  You can’t help but smile when you see the words put into action.  Check it out here.

Sadie and I heard it  on our way over to our New Year’s festivities and I took it as a sign.  Maybe this year there are going to be some major changes in our lives.  I’m not exactly sure what is in store for the both of us but I can only hope that it involves positivity and fearlessness.  We are two young women who need to live life as if its our last day.  That means we need to grab hold of life’s moments and create our own adventures.  We need to open our eyes to the life that surrounds us and take risks when we see possible opportunities that are reaching toward us.

One of my goals for this year is to see the world and all it has to offer.  So far this year, I already have a trip to Boston and San Francisco planned.  Just yesterday, I was told that I could possibly be taken on a trip to Paris for the opening of a new restaurant.  That’s not yet a definite, but I will keep you updated.  Start enjoying 2013 everyone!  The year will go by way too fast!

Success!

I survived the half marathon!  Thanks for all the well wishes along the way!  I had such a great run!  I had a vague goal of beating 2:10 because I wanted to try to break a 10 min average mile.  But I had a really good race, and I felt like running fast so I ended up at 2:04 which put me at an average of a 9:26 mile.  I’m feeling pretty good about it.  It was a perfect day for racing: warm enough to be comfortable but cool enough to keep you from sweating like crazy.  All in all it was a great experience!  Congrats to all my fellow runners!

Here are some of the songs on my shuffle that got me through the race:

  1. Va Va Voom by Nicki Minaj
  2. I Cry by Flo Rida
  3. 2 Reasons by Trey Songz feat. TI
  4. Hummingbird Heartbeat by Katy Perry
  5. This Head I Hold by Electric Guest (random but awesome)
  6. Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys feat. Nicki Minaj
  7. I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift
  8. Your Body by Christina Aguilera
  9. We Run the Night by Havana Brown feat. Pitbull
  10. Katy Perry Mega Mix by Katy Perry and Tommy Sunshine

After the race I hung out with my parents who came to Richmond to cheer me on.  My mom is a big fan of the VMFA (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts), so we spent the afternoon there checking out their Chihuly exhibit.  It was mainly all kinds of crazy blown glass.  Here’s just a sample of the stuff we saw:

What’s on your workout mix these days?

Blown Away by Carrie Underwood

Friday night, I went to a stop on the Blown Away Tour in Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall. The concert was worth every single penny. Not to mention the fact that Carrie Underwood told us that night that all the proceeds from the concert that night were going “back into the community.” As a selfless woman, she recognizes the need to “restore the shore.”

Hunter Hayes opened the show. He is the Justin Bieber of the country world and deservedly so. He is an incredibly adorable young man who is aged beyond his years. His performance of “Wanted” and “Storm Warning” highlighted his show.

When Carrie came out, everyone stood and made some noise to let her know how much they valued her talent. I had goosebumps when she came on stage. I couldn’t believe I was finally able to see this amazing young woman I have followed since she appeared on American Idol.

The best part of the show is when she performed a set on a platform that too her out over the audience.  The performance of “One Way Ticket” off her new album was a feature performance for her.  She threw down lei and her crew brought out huge beach balls for us to pass around the crowd. Toward the end of the song, confetti rained down on us for one final effect.

Carrie did a fantastic job putting together the set list for the show. She opened her show with “Good Girl,” the first track off The Blown Away album. She also featured many older songs off of her old albums. Fan favorites were “Wasted”, “Temporary Home”, “Remind Me”, “Before He Cheats.” Of course, she closed the show with a stunning performance of “Blown Away.” If you can catch one of her stops on the tour, don’t hesitate to get those tickets! She even donates $! of every ticket to the American Red Cross.
