Last Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Work by Rihanna feat. Drake. This song is everywhere and I finally caved. I felt like I needed to add it to my workout playlist.
  2. Never Forget You by Zara Larsson and MNEK. I was listening to the sample of this song on iTunes over and over and I finally committed to it. It’s also great for the workout playlist. I’m surprised I haven’t heard it in spin class yet.
  3. 2am by Adrian Marcel feat. Sage the Gemini. I heard this song on a YouTube dance video. The choreography is so good, and it’s hard to stop listening to the song.
  4. Trini Dem Girls by Nicki Minaj feat. Lunchmoney Lewis. Another one I saw on a choreography video. So good. This is a combination of a typical Nicki song combined with one of those girls of world type songs where they call out several nationalities.
  5. Drop That Kitty by Ty Dolla $ign feat. Charli XCX and Tinashe. This is another great workout song. Definitely inappropriate so it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s a fun, high energy song. (the video is definitely weird)

Last Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. We Found Love by Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris. Oldie but a goodie. This comes on in my spin class and I always think- why do I not have this song? This issue has been resolved.
  2. Hotline Bling (cover) by Ceresia. I actually have multiple Hotline Bling covers. It’s really interesting to hear the different interpretations and it’s particularly interesting to hear a woman sing it.
  3. Work From Home by Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign. This song is quite cheesy, but so catchy. Fifth Harmony seems to have a work related songs and music videos. I wonder if this is phase, or if they found success with one and kept going. I’ve listened to this song 96 times this week according to my iTunes.
  4. I Took a Pill in Ibiza (Seeb Remix) by Mike Posner. I’m not a bonafide Mike Posner fan, but I think I have at least five of his songs in my library which is a lot for kind of a one hit wonder. He keeps plugging along, and I happy he does because I really love this song. Kind of obsessed.
  5. Don’t Let Me Down by The Chainsmokers feat. Daya. Once I downloaded the Mike Posner song I was in a chill EDM mood and this was the next logical step. I only have a couple songs from The Chainsmokers but I think they’re really great for long drives or commuting music.

How I Waste Time on YouTube

Over about the last 6-9 months I’ve gotten kind of obsessed with these choreography videos on YouTube. There are a few different choreographers that put together these dance routines with generally the same crew of dancers. They pick current songs or remixes of current songs. I love seeing how they interpret the song, and it’s so cute seeing the younger kids in the group doing these intense hip-hop moves. If you’re ambitious you can watch the tutorial and do it yourself (I’m not that ambitious). These are like potato chips- once you pop…

This is the one that originally sucked me in- WilldaBeast Adams- Upgrade U by Beyonce

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3y17D_K9Zw

My favorite choreographers for these videos are Matt Steffania, Willdabeast Adams, and Tricia Miranda. It’s hard to pick favorites, but here’s my top five:

Matt Steffanina- Ayo by Chris Brown and Tyga

Matt Steffanina- Hotline Bling- Justin Bieber Remix

Tricia Miranda- WTF by Missy Elliot

WilldaBeast Adams- Formation by Beyonce

WilldaBeast Adams- Countdown by Beyonce (btw-he’s non-Beyonce songs as well)

Which one is your favorite?
