Hits and Misses

I’ve been trying to keep my wallet on lockdown the last couple months, but the below are a few of the more superfluous purchases that I’ve liked a lot and not so much.

Nike discontinued my favorite sports bra about a year or so ago. Don’t you hate when that happens? Well, after a long wait, they’ve finally brought back something comparable to my old favorite. I bought it with a little trepidation because I wasn’t sure if it would live up to my previous experiences, but I think it’s great. It doesn’t seem quite as high impact as the previous model but otherwise it fits a whole lot better than their other standard model. It looks like they’ve been adding colors so I hope that means it’s selling well and they keep it around!

I love a professional looking printed pant for work, so these from Banana were right up my ally. I’m not in love with Banana’s typical Sloane pant fabric because it’s kind of thick and doesn’t dry clean very nicely, but these are a lighter weight, closer to standard wool dress pants. They’re a keeper!

I got the above swimsuit in an teal/aqua color, and I think it’s really cute. I like the top a lot more than the bottoms, but that’s find because I can always mix and match with bottoms I like more. I think it’s a great option for water sports because everything stays relatively contained, if you know what I mean.

I ordered this blazer from Banana on super sale thinking it was home run. Not so. The fabric wasn’t great in person, and the cut was peculiar. Return.

I tried these pants on when I went to Banana to return the blazer. I loved the color and the light fabric. When I tried them on, however, the legs were too wide and the inseam was too short. They made me look short and stout. I don’t think the “Avery” fit is for me.

Hits and Misses

I’ve done a little summer shopping recently. Some good, some not so good…

This is a great breezy basic top from the Gap. It’s really cute and really comfortable. Bonus- unlike what seems to be the convention these days, it’s not completely see through!

I was looking for a blouse for work that isn’t supposed to be tucked in. I have a few slim pairs of pants that look great with more of peplum look rather than a tucked in shirt. This one from Ann Taylor is really pretty and perfect for work. It’s great with a cardigan, slim pants, and pumps.

This shirt is THE BEST. I actually got it in white with the iridescent Adidas logo, but the picture doesn’t do justice to how fly it is in person. I love it to pieces, and I feel super cool at the gym now!

I love these slubby, lightweight summer sweaters. I buy one or two every summer, so I’m starting to have a collection. It’s perfect with a pair of white jeans for a breezy summer dinner. This one is from Ann Taylor, but there are also comparable options from the other regular haunts that I’ve collected over the years.

Oh Banana. I ordered this long sleeve tee because I love a white shirt and I thought it had a lot more character than the standard tee. Turns out- not awesome. It’s very see through, and I’m not trying to wear an undershirt during the summer. I thought the bottom would be cool, but it drapes kind of awkwardly and I can see myself having to adjust it all day long. Back to the store.

I thought this sheath would be a home run from Ann Taylor. I recently bought a dress from Ann Taylor so I was confident in my size selection. This one, however, was huge on me. My waist was non-existent, it just hung. I hate inconsistent sizing. It was a return.

What pieces have worked for you recently?
