Summer TV Schedule

It’s that time of year where there isn’t much on tv to watch. Thanks to the following shows I can entertain myself at night before my early bedtime of 9 o’clock. I must admit that I have to DVR most of them!

Breaking Pointe – It’s a reality show on the CW that follows the lives of ballerinas in the ballet company, Ballet West. If you don’t know much about the grueling schedule of a dancer it is very enlightening.

Housewives of OC and NYC – While the first is in the final episodes of the season, the ladder is just beginning. I must say that the new mix on NYC provides a fresh new perspective. It is much more comical this year instead of being filled with drama. Thank you Bravo.

True Blood – It’s the shows fifth season on HBO and it is having a slow start. It I’m sure a lot of action and drama lies ahead. I just want to see more of the shirtless Eric Northman that I am used to seeing every season.

I am looking forward to the start of Big Brother on CBS. Glass House doesn’t even come close. I will miss Jeff and Jordan this year and even Brenchal. What are you watching right now?

Sesame Street Cupcakes

Here’s a classic that will never get old. Elmo and Cookie Monster Cupcakes are a popular item at the bakery. With just some colored sprinkles and some chocolate chips and cookies, you can turn an ordinary cupcake into one of your favorite characters that you can find on Sesame Street.

Snow White and the Huntsman

The other night I finally got the chance to see Snow White and the Huntsman.  I must say after a long wait I was not disappointed in this movie.  I thought it would be hard to watch Kristen Stewart in a role other than Bella Swan, but surprisingly she pulled it off in her own way.  She was very convincing as the damsel in distress when the huntsman came to her rescue.

However, I do not think she played the role of warrior princess well when she went into battle against the evil queen. Just because she puts on a suit of armor and throws her hair in a ponytail (which was quite horrific as hairstyles go) does not make her a fighter who is able to combat the magical powers of the Evil Queen.  It would have been more realistic if the huntsman had conquered the evil queen in defense of Snow White because at least it is apparent that he is physically stronger than the Evil Queen when she doesn’t have her magical powers.  I’m surprised that the writer of this script was not a woman because this story has quite the feminist force behind it.

The Evil Queen hands down stole the show.  Her beauty along was magical.  Charlize Theron proves time and time again that her beauty is her greatest strength.  I’m sure you have seen her Dior ad campaign.  It’s equally as magical as her role in this film.  Check out Snow White and the Huntsman before it leaves the theater!
