Last Five

The last five songs I’ve downloaded from iTunes are a mix of old and new stuff. Since I’ve recently joined a new gym near my new apartment, I’ve been getting back into spinning (I have found in my travels that the closer a gym is to a metropolitan area, the more intense and better the spin classes are). I heard most of these songs in some recent classes and it reminded me how much I liked them.

1. What Hurts the Most by Cascada. I know. This is Rascal Flatts cover. I love Rascal Flatts but this version is way more workout appropriate, and I love Cascada as well. It definitely gets me moving during cardio sessions.

2. Play Hard by David Guetta (feat. Ne-Yo & Akon). This song is my anthem right now. I heard it on a commercial for headphones about a month ago, liked it, and then I heard it as part of a mash up in spin class and realized I needed to own it. I play it during my workouts, during my commute, while I’m getting dressed in the morning… It is very versatile and very uplifting.

3. #Beautiful by Mariah Carey (feat. Miguel). The reason for this is Mariah Carey. Period. End of story. She has yet to let me down.

4. I Need Your Love by Calvin Harris (feat. Ellie Goulding). Apparently Ellie Goulding can do no wrong lately because this song is fantastic as usual. She has such a unique, delicate voice that fits so well with the whole vibe of the song.

5. Wake Me Up by Avicii. I’m going to go ahead and say I’ve never heard of this guy before (or band, whatever it is). I heard the song on the radio and ran across it while I was browsing iTunes the other day. It’s a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll which is what I like about it. It has a certain intensity that is interesting. It’s definitely on my workout playlist.

Bonus song: Get the Girl Back by Hanson. Go download this now. It’s everything Hanson is supposed to be: catchy, fun, infectious… These guys are quietly putting out some good songs these days and I’ve downloaded more than one in the past couple years. That’s right, I said it. I listen to Hanson. And you should too!

I graduated middle school in 1999, ok? Hanson for life!

Last Five

Here are the last five songs I’ve downloaded, and am currently listening to on repeat:

1. Mirrors by Justin Timberlake, This song took me a couple listens to understand an appreciate, but now I can’t get enough.  I’ve had it on my iPod for about a month now and I still listen to it constantly.  The video gets a little artsy and deep, but I guess that’s Timberlake for you.

2. Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore, As I mentioned in my Monument 10K wrap up, this is a great work out song.  Whenever it comes on during a cardio session I immediately correct my pace. It’s so energizing, and frankely Macklemore is just fabulous.

3. Clarity by Zedd Featuring Foxes, This was a song I fell in love with from the radio. It has a little bit of an electronic/dance vibe to it and it’s just fun. A great combination of vocals and a beat.

4. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharell, I die for this song. The video kills me. I don’t think you could put together a trio that I would like more than these three guys.  I alreadly love T.I. and Pharell, but Robin Thicke is so good looking.  Sign me up.

5. Cups by Anna Kendrick, This song is kind of delayed release of a song that Anna Kendrick preformed in Pitch Perfect. I’m so glad they remixed it a little to make it longer and released it to the radio. It’s such a great melody, and a cute, throw back song.blurredlines

Last Five

The following are the last five songs I’ve downloaded from iTunes and am currently listening to over and over again:

1. Say Somethin by Austin Mahone.  He’s like a Bieber wannabe, but I love it. What can I say, I have no problem maintaining my 13 year old girl taste in music.

2. Who Booty by John Hart. I know you can tell by the title of this song that it is very distinguished.  That’s because it is.  It’s just a fun rap song that’s catchy.

3. I Love It by Melissa Adams.  I heard this song on the trailer for a movie that came out a couple months ago (I forget the name).  Ever since then I’ve been toying with the idea of buying it.  The other day I heard it on a commercial and I knew I needed to download it.  I feel like there’s a definite trend of kind of punky agreesive girl songs right now.  Fabulous. PS- the you tube link is to a slightly more upbeat version than the one I downloaded

4. Closer by Tegan and Sara. I saw this music video randomly on VH1 one day and I thought it was interesting. Then I heard the song a few more times on an Express commercial.  The other day I even saw the Glee kids cover it, but I think the original version is much better.  I think it’s very hip.

5. Just Give Me a Reason by Pink feat. Nate Ruess (the lead singer from Fun).  Lately I haven’t been much of a Pink fan, but this song is an interesting ballad.  It definitely sounds like a Fun song because of the melody, so I bet they wrote it together.  It sounds like it’s about Pink’s relationship with her husband, especially because he’s in the video. I think it’s cute.Pink and Nate RuessSource
