Anything Could Happen

I just want to reiterate how much Sadie and I love our new theme song for this coming year.  I must say that Ellie Goulding says it the best when she sings that “anything could happen.”  The first time I heard this song was actually on the x-factor when Fifth Harmony sang it.  It was an incredibly delightful performance.  You can’t help but smile when you see the words put into action.  Check it out here.

Sadie and I heard it  on our way over to our New Year’s festivities and I took it as a sign.  Maybe this year there are going to be some major changes in our lives.  I’m not exactly sure what is in store for the both of us but I can only hope that it involves positivity and fearlessness.  We are two young women who need to live life as if its our last day.  That means we need to grab hold of life’s moments and create our own adventures.  We need to open our eyes to the life that surrounds us and take risks when we see possible opportunities that are reaching toward us.

One of my goals for this year is to see the world and all it has to offer.  So far this year, I already have a trip to Boston and San Francisco planned.  Just yesterday, I was told that I could possibly be taken on a trip to Paris for the opening of a new restaurant.  That’s not yet a definite, but I will keep you updated.  Start enjoying 2013 everyone!  The year will go by way too fast!

Top Three…

Favorite new shows of the season:

1. Emily Owens, M.D.

This show starts Mamie Gummer, who just happens to be the great Meryl Streep’s daughter.  Mamie resembles her mother’s looks and had inherited her wonderful acting skills as well.  Prior to this show, I have seen her on episodes of The Good Wife and also as a cast member of Off the Map.  She shines in this role of a slightly socially awkward doctor who has a crush on a coworker who went to med school with her.  When she tells him that she likes him more than a friend, she finds out that he does not feel the same way.  She now has to come to terms with that fact that he is always going to be a friend to her.  I’m sure she’s not the only one who has been in this situation!

2. Nashville

Hayden Panettiere serves up a great role as the young country startlet who is overtaking the veteran  star’s place on the country charts.  This show sizzles with scandal.  Hayden’s singing isn’t too bad either.  Her songs from the show are even being featured on the country stations and can be found on iTunes.  I think she has found her career as a true country star.

3. Arrow

This show is an adaptation of the comic book.  It reminds me of the Batman series.  A wealthy young man decides to become a vigilante to make his city a better place for everyone.  He was shipwrecked on an island where he seems to gain his strength and endurance.  He has a list of people that he got from his father of who he needs to take down.  One by one, he will turn his city back into to its original state with the help of the DA/former girlfriend played by Katie Cassidy, who I first saw in the recent version of Melrose Place.  I certainly wouldn’t mind it if he saved me because he is one handsome hero.

Five Things

I’m watching on the tube this fall.

1. Heart of Dixie.  I love it.  It’s my inner 16 year old I think because it’s basically on par with the WB dramas I grew up with: Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s, Felicity.  I can’t say that every episode is a home run, but I’m emotionally invested in the characters at this point so I have to watch it.  Catch on Tuesday’s on the CW.

the good life: feet up, watching my Hart of Dixie

2. Flipping Out.  Bravo gets me every time.  I’ve been following this show since the beginning and I love the mix of the design work and workplace drama.  I can’t wait for Jennie to get married in this week’s episode.  It’s on Tuesdays on Bravo.

3. Modern Family.  I’m late to the party on this one, but I’m starting to appreciate it.  It’s funny!  It’s on ABC, but I always forget which day!

4. The Mindy Project.  I wasn’t sure about this one at first and I don’t think I find all of the characters very plausible, but it’s slowly growing on me.  I like some of the leads and I see some interesting love interests developing.  It’s on Fox on Tuesdays after New Girl.

5. The New Girl.  We’ve had this conversation already, it’s hilarious.  It’s on Fox on Tuesdays.

Now I would appreciate if the playoff baseball and presidential debates would stop interrupting my prime time programming!
