Fall Must Haves

Every season there seem to be a few new trends or must have items that I notice, then proceed to plot and scheme to find the best version for me. Here are some of the things I’ve been thinking about lately, but haven’t had the chance to get quite yet:

Coated Jeans

I just got rid of my old pair of black jeans because they got pretty faded and never quite fit the way I wanted. Instead of replacing them with black denim, I think coated denim could be an even cooler option! I’ve seen them in a range of prices and I’m hoping I’ll like the ones from Banana and Ann Taylor because they’re more in my range. I’ve been unsure of my size lately though, so despite all the 40% sales, I need to get to the mall and try them on before I pull the trigger.

Ankle Boots

Always. I need a black and maybe brown pair that have a heel that’s not too thin and not too thick, not too high but not too low. Something I can wear with my long dress pants to work so the hems aren’t dragging when I walk. Durable, comfortable, but cute shoes for work are a must have! I haven’t found my Goldielocks perfect pair, but I’m looking…

Chambray ShirtsChambray

I had one that I loved and wore constantly, but it doesn’t fit the way it used to, so I need a new one! I know these have been in style consistently for a couple years now, but it seems like every single store has a version in three washes this season. I need.

Biker Chicleatherdress

Leather/pleather along with Moto style jackets seem to be THE THING right now. But wait a second, I’ve been rocking a sweet leather jacket for years. And almost every coat I buy has an off center zipper which I guess is “moto.” So basically what I”m saying is that someone has probably been spying on me, and decided that I am too cool for school. Even though this trend is not a new concept for me, I am thrilled that this style is so readily available, and I’m taking full advantage!

What do you have your eye on this fall?

Last Five

Songs I downloaded on iTunes:

5. Classic by MKTO. Get it, now! This is such a fun song! It kind of reminds my of Faded by Soul Decision because it’s a very poppy song with kind of a cheesy quick rap in the middle. But it’s so catchy and retro that the cheese factor that comes along with the rap is negligible. I’ve heard of these guys before, but I like ’em!

4. Hold On, We’re Going Home by Drake feat. Majid Jordan. This is such a chill song and Drake is the best. I love vibe. It’s not necessarily at the top of my workout song list, but it’s very enjoyable. I don’t have a lot of new rap songs on my list lately, so this is keeping the genre alive for me.

3. Dirty Dancing by The New Kids On The Block. This song is pretty hilarious. I think it’s funny and kind of awesome that these five boys from Boston often lean toward and R&B vibe in their music. Where does that come from in them? Anywho, the song is just fun and funny. It makes me smile for sure.

2. Alone Together by Fall Out Boy. In my opinion Fall Out Boy never disappoints. Even though they have come and gone a little over the years, I love how their songs have a good mix of pop melody and rock. Patrick Stump, the lead singer, seems to nail it on the head every time! This song rocks!

1. Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs. I am so obsessed with this song! It is the epitome of cute and I love Olly. It’s very retro to the point that I could almost picture Sam Cooke singing it. There’s basically nothing I don’t like about this song and I am fully capable of listening to it on repeat for long periods of time.

The BIG Score!

Yesterday I was at one of my favorite places, Days of Olde Antiques.  I always find something when I go because they have a ton of antiques to choose from.  They get a lot of traffic, which means that there is always something new to look at.  When I was there last month, my mom bought me some things for my birthday presents.  It’s always more fun when you don’t even have to pay for it yourself.  Yesterday, I was able to make the most of my budget.  Here’s how things went down.  I decided that I was going to purchase this small candy dish to match some other pieces I have in my Anchor Hocking moonstone hobnail collection.  I acquired some pieces from my grandmother.  I just couldn’t resist this small $12 purchase.

IMG_1136As I was making my purchase, the person ringing me up just happened to be the owner of the booth that this piece came from.  He said to me, “I’m willing to sell you the rest of my collection at a reasonable price.”  I remained calm and nonchalantly said, “I’m willing to hear you out.”   He took me over to the booth to see what his collection entailed.  I was amazed at how many pieces he wanted to unload.  There were so many pieces that I thought he would tell me a very high number.  To my surprise, he said “I can do $100.”  Well hell yeah!  That’s what I was thinking in my head.  I told him that I would be happy to take it off his hands at that price.  He said he has about 50 more boxes of glassware at his house that he needs to unload.  I’m looking forward to checking out what he puts in its place.  I just unpacked the glassware and have valued it at over $350.  Looks like I hit the jackpot.IMG_1135
