Last Five

Songs I downloaded on iTunes.

  1. Love in the Dark by Adele. I’m slowly accumulating Adele’s music, and while I love this song, I’m not so crazy about her latest single Send My Love (to your new lover). The verses are fine, the chorus is weird.
  2. Dance in the Graveyards by Delta Rae. I went to an A Capella concert a couple weeks ago in DC and this song was performed quite fabulously. It has a slightly morbid premise, but very joyful at the same time.
  3. Treat You Better by Shawn Mendes. This is a really catchy and sweet new tune from Shawn Mendes. I needed a new song on my playlist, and this fit the bill.
  4. Nothing But Trouble (Instagram Models) by Lil’ Wayne and Charlie Puth. This song is kind of hilarious, and a really good mix of Lil’ Wayne and Charlie Puth’s styles. It’s also just kind of funny to see these two do a song together. Charlie is getting some street cred with all of his fancy duets these days.
  5. Never Be Like You by Flume feat. Kai. This EDM song reminds me of a combination of Ellie Goulding and The Chainsmokers. It’s kind of chill and intense at the same time. I don’t really get the message, I think she cheated and she’s looking for forgiveness. I’ll have to listen again.

Last Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Break a Sweat by Becky G. This is definitely for the workout mix. There’s obviously a double meaning, but it totally works.
  2. Monster by Kanye West feat. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver. I needed this song after I saw Adele rap Nicki’s part on her episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden. Nicki’s rap is my favorite part of the song, but it’s pretty good all around.
  3. Good to Be Alive by Andy Grammar. I think I heard this song in a class at the gym and I decided I needed it. It’s very positive and a good change of pace from the rap and EDM on my workout mix.
  4. Bad by David Guetta and Showtek feat. Vassy. I’m pretty sure David Guetta can do no wrong. This song is pretty epic.
  5. All I Ask by Adele. This is again a result of watching Carpool Karaoke with James Corden and Adele. It’s fantastic.

Last Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes.

  1. Break Up in a Small Town by Sam Hunt. I think I have a quota of at least one country song a quarter and I was overdue. I don’t think there’s such thing as a Sam Hunt song that isn’t catchy.
  2. Big Rings by Drake and Future. Ciara child support battles aside, this is a great victory song. It’s great to listen too after you’ve had a good day, it makes you feel like a baller.
  3. When We Were Young by Adele. I’m going to be honest, I do not love every single song on Adele’s new album, but I love this song. I do wonder, however, how at 27 she has had this many epic romances.
  4. WTF (Where They From) by Missy Elliot feat. Pharrell. I love that Missy Elliot comes back every few years and puts out a really fun out of box song. This song is definitely outside the box and it took some time to warm up to it, but after a couple listens I thought it was awesome! I also love this YouTube choreography video to it.
  5. Perfect (stripped version) by One Direction. One last hurrah before the hiatus!
