Last Five

Songs I’ve downloaded on iTunes.

1. Stutter by Marianas Trench. Listen to this now! I caught wind of this band on Pandora, and I love them! They’re a Canadian band that is pop rock, kind of a more lighthearted version of Fall Out Boy/ Maroon 5/ Good Charlotte. You need this song, and you might also need “Haven’t Had Enough” and “Truth or Dare.” You’re welcome.

2. Does He Know by One Direction. It’s 1D. Case closed. We all know, I’m boy bands for life.

3. Acapella by Karmin. I love Karmin and this music video is definitely worth a watch. It’s just a fun, colorful video with some funny dance moves.

4. Break Free by Ariana Grande feat. Zedd. I saw this song on the “Top Songs” section of iTunes, I listened to the sample and clicked “purchase” before the sample was over. It has a lot of energy and it’s a great workout song.

5. Dancing on My Own by Robyn. One of my spin instructors always plays mash-up songs, and this song was in one of the mash-ups. I recognized it, and realized I needed to add it to my library. Robyn songs are often a little sad, but they make for great workout songs, and Robyn’s dance moves are pretty fantastic!

Best Five

Songs I downloaded from iTunes in 2013

1. I Love It by Icona Pop.  Because, I don’t care, I love it!

2. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell Williams. This song had some highs and lows this year, and a little extra scandalous media attention. It doesn’t matter though, because it’s still a great song.

3. Dance With Me Tonight by Olly Murs. Such a fun retro sound. I think I listened to it about 7,439 times this year.

4. Do What You Want by Lady Gaga, feat. R. Kelly. I could listen to this song on repeat for an entire 10 mile run in 25 degree weather and I’m pretty sure I would be happy as a clam with crazy fast splits. Sometimes Lady Gaga has been a little too abstract for me in the past year, but not on this one.

5. I Would by One Direction. I limited myself to one 1D song for this list, and this has to be it. It is, hands down, the cutest.Zendaya

Bonus Track: I just downloaded Replay by Zendaya. Coincidentally, I’ve been replaying it quite a bit in the last week. And since Zendaya is really from Shake It Up on the Disney Channel, the video is a straight up, old school, dance video. No weird narrative, just dancing in various sets with different outfits. AKA: awesome.

Here’s to more great music in 2014!

Last Five

The Last Five songs I downloaded.

1.  Kiss You by One Direction: So I was all ready to side with The Wanted (even though we all know I am an *NSYNC girl in my heart), because I saw The Wanted’s show on E!. But here’s the problem: One Direction is just so damn catchy sometimes. This is one of those times. It’s a great commuting song, a great workout song, a great playing in Excel at work song. I can’t get enough! One Direction

2. Live It Up by Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull: This right here is a formula that cannot fail. J-Lo + Pitbull= quality dance/workout/fun music. The only word that can describe this song is: Fierce!J Lo

3. They Don’t Know About Us by One Direction: Catchy boy band ballad? Yes please!

4. I’m Out by Ciara feat. Nicki Minaj: I live for this song and this duo! Ciara is a constant on my workout mix, and this song has been a great addition of late. Sometimes Ciara has been hit and miss in the past few years, but I think this is a little more reminiscent of her fabulous sophomore album.Ciara

5. Roar by Katy Perry: Download this song now and play it on repeat. The first time I heard it I was not sold, but I needed some new music so I downloaded it and put it on my workout mix. When it came on during my run on the treadmill (my least favorite cardio machine) I played it about five times in a row and upped by speed. It is super motivational!
